Who we are


Professionalism, daily commitment and sensibility about the developments of aeronautical industry, this is the history of Icarus, a company continuously in positive expansion

1986: Foundation:
ICARUS S.C.a R.L., establish its legal office at: Villa S. Giovanni (RC)

 

1990: First activities
Performances in Fire fighting and External cargo lifting.

 

1991: Diversifications of services:
Now Icarus operate in whole branches of aerial works: Agriculture, Survey, Cable stretching, Aerial filming.

 

1994: Public Transport
The range of our services is getting wider: we offer heliski and helitaxi.too.

 

1996: First important commercial agreement
R.A.I. (Italian TV Broadcasting): Supplier for aerial filming of the most important Sports and Cultural events: Formula1, Giro d’Italia (Cycling), Linea Verde e Blu.

 

1998: Civil Service
The first service with heliambulance is performed

2001: Another step ahead
ISO UNI 9002 e JAR 145 certifications awarded
Opening of a new operative base at Chambave (AO)
Our fleet increase: now Icarus own 6 helicopters, including a twin engines.

 

2002: An Important target reached
10.000 hours flown
Opening of new Heli Bases and Helipad at Milazzo (ME), Aeolian islands, in Tropea and Salerno.

 

2003: First International Certification: C.O.A.: Air Operator Certificate

 

2004: Icarus Group get larger
Establishment of FLYTECHNOLOGY: company specialized in Helicopters maintenance and EASA PART 145 certified
UNI ISO 14001 certification awarded

 

2005: America’s Cup
Beginning of our cooperation (still on) with this prestigious event: over Mediterranean skies, following the best sailors of the world

 

2006: New Infrastructures
Works to built up the new Headquarter at Reggio Calabria (RC) begun

 

2007: Horizons enlarge
More than 25.000 hours flown
New operations in Spain and Nigeria
Now Icarus is managing 12 helicopters

 

2008: Ready for the future
Updating and upgrading of Communication services
Opening of new operations areas in Europe and Africa
